Alane Middleton loves to draw, paint, scrapbook and write. The best part of creating beautiful pieces of art is the joy of sharing them with the world.
In her moments of respite from writing, Alane often engages in painting. She enjoys the feeling of her brush gliding over the untouched canvas, creating something new. She often finds painting a great way to gain inspiration and help her overcome writer’s block.
Drawing was her first introduction to art. Alane spent many days as a child recreating some of her favorite cartoon characters. As she matured, she discovered a new source of motivation in the natural world. Pursuing her art by going outside and depicting the wonders she witnesses helps her to find her inner peace.
Alane’s mother and her spend hours together scrapbooking their family memories. They have dozens of scrapbooks that her kids love looking through. It is a delightful way for her family to revisit some of their cherished memories.
Painting
Painting is one of Alane’s passions. She finds it to be wonderfully therapeutic, especially when she wants to escape for a bit. She loves the forgiving nature of paint on a canvas. It only takes a few sweeps of the brush to right a wrong. Then the magic of taking an idea and turning it into whatever is wanted. Her children love when she paints murals for them. She painted these two recently. The tiger face was for her daughters and the dragon for her sister.
Drawing
While writing her novels, Alane is also working on illustrating a children’s book for her son who loves foxes. The sketches are the first stage of the illustration process, one with which her daughter jumped in and helped with. You can see where little hands got a hold of a pencil and added their own special touches.
Scrapbooking
Alane’s mother introduced her to scrapbooking when she was 14 years old and she has been addicted ever since.
